Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Cognitive Science

The Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science (RuCCS) announces the availability of POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS, funded through an NIH Institutional National Research Service Award.  These fellowships are designed to provide a unique opportunity for interdisciplinary experience in cognitive science, with emphasis on language and vision. Preference will be given to applicants whose background fits with and complements the areas of specialization of the Center (see http://ruccs.rutgers.edu/research.html and http://ruccs.rutgers.edu/peoplefaculty.html )

ELIGIBILITY - applicants must be a US citizen or permanent resident and must have completed their degree requirements at the time of the award. Note that some of the fellowships awarded under this program are funded by a matching grant from Rutgers University and do not carry the citizenship requirement.

Post-doctoral fellowships are considered as opportunities for recent, and occasionally somewhat more senior Ph.D.s, to obtain training in an allied field of Cognitive Science. For this reason they will be given preferentially for work in a field different from the one in which the candidate obtained his or her graduate degree.

Selection of fellows will be done by the Cognitive Science Certificate Committee on the basis of quality, interest and experience in an ongoing program.

Fellows appointed to the Center under the NRSA Traineeship program will have responsibility to: (a) Develop a program of training for themselves, under the guidance of their RuCCS faculty sponsor, (b) carry out active research in conjunction with one of the laboratories or research programs at RuCCS or in related departments, and (c) communicate their work and their knowledge to the local group through seminars and graduate student advising.

Fellowships are initially awarded for a period of one year and may be renewable. The value of the fellowship will depend on seniority with some modest travel/research allowances.
