Please join us for our Invitations to Industry Spring seminar series at Rutgers University. We invited PhDs who have transitioned into industry to tell you about their experiences. They will talk about their career path, the skills necessary to succeed in their role, and the types of problems that they work on. There will be ample time to network and ask questions and we hope that you take this opportunity to join us!
There will be pizza served at 5:30PM, followed by a presentation and discussion led by our industry guest.
Vita Markman, PhD is a Staff Software Engineer at LinkedIn on the International Engineering team. Vita’s work centers on scaling the appeal of LinkedIn products to members in international markets as well as to US members in new market segments by improving the relevance of search and recommendations. This involves understanding the diverse needs of LinkedIn members worldwide and customizing the relevance algorithms that power LinkedIn products.
Before joining LinkedIn, Vita was a Staff Research Engineer at Samsung Research America, where among other projects, she worked on extracting real-time news summary from closed caption news streams and developing an automated customer support question-answer system for Samsung Smart TV. Prior to Samsung Research, Vita was a Computational Linguist at Disney, where she led the development of safe chat application for Disney’s online games for kids.
