Designing Systems that Learn to Behave

From one perspective, the computer science field of reinforcement
learning is a vestige of the age of behaviorism.  From another,
however, it is arguably the only area in artificial intelligence
concerned with assembling a truly cognitive machine.  In this
presentation, I'll discuss my past reinforcement learning research, my
current projects, and my beliefs of where the field needs to go next.
