Within the associationist framework, the number of learning trials isuniversally considered a primary determinant of conditioned responding.Evidence for this is typically provided by the stereotyped learning curve, which depicts the growth of responding over trials. However, recentchallenges from within the information processing framework have calledthis assumption into question, and recent research suggests that, contraryto common wisdom, number of trials is not a learning relevant parameter.
