Briefing on the National Research Council Report: Taking Science to School: Learning & Teaching Science in Grades K-8

The recently released NRC consensus study report Taking Science to School sets out findings and conclusions within the domains of Learning and Learners, Curriculum and Instruction, and, Teachers and Schools. There are also recommendations for policy and practice addressing �What to teach and when�, �How to teach�, and �Supporting Effective Science Instruction�. In my presentation, I will give an overview of the conclusions, findings and recommendations as a precursor for an examination and discussion of the critical areas for research and development identified in the report that may, in turn, be foci for future research programs and projects at Rutgers University. o Learning in the Four Strandsi.
