There are interesting similarities among the theoretical descriptions of language interpretation, visual perception, interpreting sounds, and cognitive scientific talk about information processing by neurons.  I will look at some of the similarities in our theoretical descriptions of information processing among these sensory modalities and draw some conclusions about the division of labor among semantic and pragmatic principles.
