Many people believe that we possess an immaterial soul that will survive the death of our bodies. Recent advances in science and other fields have caused some to challenge this notion. Drawing on ideas from biology, psychology, neuroscience, and philosophy, a set of panel speakers with opposing views will debate this age-old question.

Speakers included the Director of RuCCS Dr. Brian McLaughlin,  Dr. Mark Baker, Dr. Julien Musolino.

Dr. Elizabeth Torres Discovers a Way to Detect and Measure Female Autism, Asperger's

Dr. Torres and her lab members have made a breakthrough discovery. They found that tracking and measuring the involuntary head movements revealed in functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans offers a new, more accurate way to detect autism in girls.

The breakthrough research was featured on Rutgers Today and NJTV News.

Dr. Alvin Goldman Receives Chancellor’s Professor in the Arts and Humanities

One of the initiatives of the New Brunswick Strategic Plan is the Chancellor's Professorship in the Arts and Humanities. This one-year honorary title is given to a preeminent faculty member from an arts and humanities discipline at Rutgers-New Brunswick.

We are excited to announce that Alvin Goldman, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Philosophy in the School of Arts and Sciences, has been nominated and chosen to receive this honor for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Cognitive Science Undergraduate Major Approved

We are excited to announce that the Rutgers Center for Cognitive Science now offers a Bachelors Degree in Cognitive Science (B.A.). Beginning Fall 2017, students will be able to declare the new Cognitive Science Major using myMajor. Click here for more info.
